Mourning Joy

Good Mourning Widows! Joy to you and me.

Gather 'round. Join hands. Today we welcome famous widow, Representative Carolyn McCarthy to our joyous club, the one nobody wants to be a member of.

In 1993, McCarthy was a nurse/housewife living the quiet life in Mineola, New York, when her husband and son were gunned down on a commuter train. This gutsy woman turned tragedy into triumph by successfully campaigning against gun violence.

Go, girlfriend!

"There's more to McCarthy than limiting the ability of criminals to buy weapons. More and more, she has parlayed her experience as a nurse and mother into a growing expertise - and influence - on health and education issues."
-Newsday Editorial 5/5/02 "Here's How LI's Congressional Delegation is Doin'"

After we remember Him, let's pick up a pen and write something -- maybe a letter or short note to your Congressman -- Maybe a journal entry.

Go ahead. I dare you.

Mourning Joy

Q: What do you get when a dogcatcher nabs a beagle?

A: A pound hound.
Thank you, Anthony Valentino

Have a joyful day. And remember, we're not alone.
