David Berkowitz, Son of Sam, .44 Caliber Killer

"And on the seat next to him is the brown paper bag with the .44 caliber gun that did all the shootings. And in the back seat was a machine gun, a fully automatic weapon."--Detective John Falotico
Good Mourning, Everyone! Joy to you and me.
Welcome famous relatives of famous victims: Donna Lauria, age 18, killed July 29, 1977; Christine Freund, age 26, killed January 29, 1977; Virginia Voskerichian, age 19, killed March 8, 1977; Alexander Esau, age 20, killed April 17, 1977; Valentina Suriani, age 18, killed April 17, 1977; Stacy Moskowitz, age 20, killed July 31, 1977, to the club nobody wants to joy-n.
It was the summer of 1977, and brown shoulder-length-haired girls are being shot dead in the dark of night. Fear grips Westchester County, New York. A killer is on the loose.
At long last, on August 10, 1977, Son of Sam, .44 Caliber Killer, David Berkowitz is captured. But, not until after his victims' families, their friends, and one entire city, are left shattered.
Fast forward 30 years. David Berkowitz, age 54, is eligible for a parole hearing in June 2008.

  1. Excellent article. I remember when the crimes were happening. Had NO IDEA he was eligible for parole in June 08.
