Day of the Dead

Today is the Day of the Dead, something begun in Mexico to honor deceased relatives and amigos. So, from Griefcase, Happy el día de los muertos !

  1. In the UK the 5th is Guy Fawkes Day. When I was young all the local communities used to have their own bonfire but sadly all of that, the literal bonfires and the sense of community they engendered, have long since gone.

    I miss them both.

  2. I love Mexico's Day of the Dead. Our Halloween is a secular spin-off holiday, of course, of these sacred holy-days that go deeply into our understanding of life so we live more fully.

  3. I first learned about the Mexican celebration Day of the Dead when I was writing my book More Than Meets the Eye, True Stories about Death, Dying and Afterlife. It is a great way to remember and honor those who have passed before us.

Thank you for sharing your mourning joy with us.
